The Axe Vale & District Conservation Society was formed c.1970 and was 'dedicated to the protection of wildlife and the environment in their area’.

Its aims included 'securing the representation, protection, development and improvement of features of beauty or of historic or public interest' in the Axe Vale and surrounding areas.

Since 1996 the society has run many events and has built up links with various organisations such as Devon Wildlife Trust, EDDC Countryside Service, AONB, Devon Birds, Natural England, Environment Agency and Devon Heritage Coast Team.

The Axe Estuary Tower Hide

As most members will already know, the Axe Estuary Tower Hide was opened at Easter and has proved very popular.
Your Society contributed to the costs of building this hide, and our contribution was made possible by grants from the Naturesave Trust and from the Fine Family Foundation, as well as a number of individual donations. The Society is most grateful for all these grants and donations.
